History of Quality
- The first seeds of QM with the principles of scientific management were planted in 1920s and were applied wholesale in US Industry.
- 1930 Walter Shewhart used probability mathematics to develop the concept
of statistical analysis for Quality Control Industry.
- 1950 Deming taught these methods to Japanese engineers and executives and
Juran brought QM and the concept of management breakthrough to Japan. They
are the architects of the Quality Revolution in Japan.
- Today, TQM is the popular name for the philosophy of encompassing a
company wide approach to managing quality.
